IPL now is in its 5th season and there is a question in everyone mind whether it is bane or boon.Somepeople thinks that IPL increasing its audience as each season progress while somepeople including former cricketers think that it is spoiling the cricket. So, there is a heated discussion going on this topic.let us we figure out.
The money spinning IPL has invited a lot of controversy in recent times.During IPL-1 the Late night parties, cheer girls were topics of discussion .Two big guns Lalit Modi and Shashi Tharoor were sacked during the IPL 3.IPL 4 was silent but during IPL 5 all controversies reached at their peak like match fixing controversy which leads to the suspension of some players, shahrukh khan brawl etc. and there is a demand from some politicians and former cricketers to shut down this game. But is this the solution of the problem ? No doubt some people have a fear about the loosing interest of test cricket in people .But,there are only few who really think about this.let the test cricket for the people who really enjoy watching test cricket.and let the twenty-20 cricket for entertainment who want simply entertainment, who wants only sixes -fours at each and every ball.IPL is not distroying the cricket but it is promoting the cricket.what about the countries where hockey, football or basketball games are popular .These games are not more then 2 hrs .If you want to promote the cricket in these countries you have to promote the cricket of shorter version.
One of the most important advantages of the IPL is that we can see a lot of international cricket players playing in India and for Indian teams. The likes of Gilchrist, Hussey brothers, kallis, murli, Gibbs, etc. playing for Indian teams is certainly an amazing deed. We, Indians cheer for Gilchrist and Kallis, who are playing for Punjab and KKR respectively and who are incidentally players that we liked to hate, till recently. The Indian players, the youngsters, would certainly learn a great deal from these international players, who are thorough professionals. Seeing Mike Hussey, the Chennai Super King batsman, blending comfortably with players like the Chennai born – Badrinath, is a real treat to watch. A lot of other players, who were foes while playing international cricket, are now good team mates and are enjoying each others company, thanks to the IPL. We can also say that this lead to the amicable relation between the indian and foreign players.Like, in IPL 4 selection of Andrew Symonds for mumbai indian. We all remember how the monkeygate scandal worsened the relations of cricketers of both the nations and in the same way during IPL4 we also saw when they both together celebrating the win of mumbai indians. This is the beauty of game.
India is a cricket loving nation and we all love cricket.everyone wants to play for his country but is it possible to play for all .the biggest example of this is Rajinder Goel ,i know most of us donot know this name. But this man has the highest wickets in ranji trophy(637 with an average of 18),but he never had a chance to play for india due to the presence of "indian spin quartet" at that time. But ,in current time there is no possibilty that player like his stature dont get chance to play in IPL.There are so many players who get polular from the IPL and even played or playing for the country like Suresh Raina,Yusuf pathan,Jadeja etc.So,IPL-provide a chance for the domestic player to do good in front and along with the international players.the life of cricketer is very small and it give them financial strength too. So,it is not right to criticise the IPL ,though there are some ambiguities in this game but these must be removed rather then closing the "entertainment ka baap" IPL.
